- Is planning permission required? If you live in a Conservation Area, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty or a List Building you will need planning permission to change your windows
- The regulations with the Planning Department of your Local Authority
- Replacement windows are now covered by Building Regulations (Part L thermal efficiency), your installer should be registered under the self-assessment FENSA scheme

Schuco Bi-Fold Doors
Simply put Schuco is the finest bi folding door system manufactured in the UK. The engineering excellence of the door means that although the face widths are narrow with a typical sightline of just 120mm, the frames are incredibly strong meaning that each individual bi-fold door can go up to an industry leading 1200mm wide as well as panels up to 3000mm high. The thermal properties of the door comfortably surpass all current and future building regulations and security is not an issue because of multi point locks throughout as well as all of the doors.

Heat Retention
Using standard glazing a 1.6 – 1.7 U-Value can be attained, which is a great standard of thermal efficiency, but if required triple glazing or a higher standard of double glazing can be used to get the U-Value down to 1.4
SMART Bi-Fold Doors
The Smarts bi folding door is ideally suited to residential applications and boasts many of the same qualities as the SCHUCO such as multi-point locking, flat intermediate handles and a clean, modern aesthetic.
The fundamental difference between the two systems is that individual panels within the Smarts cannot be manufactured as wide or as tall as our Schuco folding door system, but what it does offer is a more cost effective option.
The Smarts is a superb bi folding door and is extremely attractive boasting a sightline of just 132mm and a 30mm low threshold option creating a flush finish from inside to out. The system operates effortlessly on four stainless steel bogey wheel assemblies which run on a dual stainless steel track. The Smarts is ideal for residential use and offers superb value for money for bi folding doors up to 6.5 metres wide. As the Smarts is our most cost effective bi folding door solution
